News Release: Beta Launch of New Mixed-Reality SimulatorCollingwood, Ontario – November 5, 2024 – Genesis Flight College is excited to announce the Beta launch phase of our new Mixed-Reality (MR) Simulator, a cutting-edge training device set to revolutionize flight instruction. This crucial phase will run for the next few months, during which we aim to maximize usage hours to identify and rectify any remaining bugs and ensure the effectiveness of our current feature set. We plan to launch the device as a billable item with the January Cadet class.

Our MR Simulator is on track to become the first certified device of its kind in Canada. We are proud to be the official beta test partner with Transport Canada (TC) and are part of the beta program to become one of the first Approved Training Organizations (ATOs) in Canada under the new ATO policy. This partnership will eventually allow us to apply for an “alternate means of compliance” to reduce the need for actual flight hours, substituting them with time in the simulator. Our goal is to potentially replace 30% of dual lessons with simulator training in the next 2-3 years. The MR Simulator will be available on a subscription model, offering unlimited usage for a small monthly fee.

The device’s current feature set is designed with precision, offering realistic flight characteristics for all basic VFR maneuvers.  Advanced navigation features, including VOR and GPS moving maps, will be added early next year.

The true power of the MR Simulator lies in its integrated AI, which will offer automated instruction and grading. The AI will guide students through lesson plans, provide real-time feedback, adjust challenge levels, and demonstrate maneuvers if necessary. This technology aims to ensure students can refine their skills before flying an actual aircraft, minimizing the need for repeated lessons.

Initially during the Beta phase, students will have free access to the simulator as we prepare for launch in January.
